Every year, the World Day of social justice is celebrated on the 20th of Febuary
But what is social justice?
Social justice is justice in terms of the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society.
It is celebrated to promote the need of social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections.
This year's theme for the World Day of Social Justice is 'Achieving Social Justice through Formal Employment'. On 26 November 2007, the General Assembly declared that starting from the sixty-third session of the General Assembly, 20 February will be celebrated annually as the World Day of Social Justice.
